Harbor Area Counseling Services (hacsinc.org) offers skillful, affordable counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families, children, and groups. At HACS, we believe that each person has the inner wisdom and ability to solve their own problems and create more happiness and satisfaction in their lives. However, everyone feels unsatisfied, unhappy, even lost at various times. We all face crisis of one type or another. While we can often move through these difficult times on our own, many of us find qualified, caring assistance and guidance helpful, perhaps even necessary, as an aid in accessing our innate qualities and moving toward what we are meant to be. As individual and family therapists at HACS, we regard our job as 1) creating a safe, motivating environment and 2) offering supportive, stimulating guidance for the enhancement of each client’s own unique expression of emotional well being, meaningful relationships, and fulfilling life. Couples and families have the additional challenge and opportunity of combining the desires, feelings, abilities and motivations of each member. As with individuals, each couple and family has its own life that requires nurturing, dedication, and work to sustain happiness and growth. Good couple and family therapy, including enhanced communication techniques, can access, energize, and guide these abilities. We are proud to offer individual psychotherapy, couple counseling, and family therapy to San Pedro, Palos Verdes, Harbor City, Wilmington, Long Beach, Torrance, Gardena, Carson, and the Greater South bay area. When you meet with a lender to apply for financing, you may feel as if you are in a foreign country when the loan officer begins to talk about points, Regulation Z margins, PMI, and ARMs.
You are not alone if you feel left behind by loan terminology. Like many professionals, lenders use a highly specialized language. Don't hesitate to ask for a translation! This is especially true if you are investigating some of the more complicated loans with rates that can be adjusted periodically. As you consider the various loan options, find out what the interest rate will be and at what point the lender will commit to that rate. If the loan has an adjustable rate, be sure that you understand how often the rate will adjust, and by how much your payments may go up. Find out if the loan can be assumed by a future buyer. The lender isn't trying to confuse you. The mortgage process is complicated, so just keep asking questions until you understand.
